PRIVACY POLICY

Effective 7 October 2026 · applies to the TMC desktop application and tmc.wieck.dev

Summary

TMC is a desktop mail client that runs entirely on your own computer. We (the publisher, wieck.dev) operate no server that receives, stores or processes your mail, contacts, calendar, passwords or sign-in tokens. TMC connects directly from your computer to the mail services you set up.

Who is responsible

wieck.dev, contact: marcel@wieck.dev.

Data TMC handles on your computer

DataPurposeWhere it is kept
Account settings (address, server names, display name, signature)Connecting to your mailboxesConfiguration file in your home folder
Passwords and sign-in tokensLogging in to your mail servicesYour desktop's keyring (Secret Service), or a file only you can read if no keyring is available
Messages, folders, attachmentsShowing and managing your mail, offline readingLocal cache in your home folder (message bodies can be excluded or wiped in the settings)
Contacts and calendar entriesAddress book, completion, calendar, remindersLocal database in your home folder

None of this is sent to us. TMC contains no telemetry, analytics, advertising or crash reporting. Remote content in messages (images, tracking pixels) is never loaded.

Google user data

If you choose “Sign in with Google”, TMC asks Google for the following permissions:

ScopeWhy TMC needs it
https://mail.google.com/Reading, sending and organising your Gmail through the standard IMAP and SMTP protocols. These are the core functions of a mail client, and IMAP/SMTP access is only available with this scope.
openid, email, profileLearning your address and name, so the account can be set up without typing.

How Google data is used. Data received from Google is used only to provide the mail features you see in TMC: showing, searching, sending, drafting, moving, flagging and deleting your messages, and naming the account. It is processed on your computer only.

How it is stored. The sign-in token is kept in your desktop's keyring. Messages may be cached locally as described above. Nothing is stored on servers operated by us.

Sharing. We do not receive your Google data, so we cannot share, sell or transfer it. TMC does not use it for advertising, does not sell it, and does not use it to develop, improve or train generalised AI or machine-learning models.

Optional AI agents. TMC includes an optional, local Model Context Protocol (MCP) interface. It is disabled by default. If you enable it and connect an AI assistant of your choice, that assistant can access only the mailboxes, folders and actions you explicitly allow, and only when you ask it to. That data then goes from your computer to the assistant you chose, under that assistant's terms. We are not involved in that transfer.

Limited Use. TMC's use and transfer to any other app of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

Removing access. Removing a channel in TMC deletes its token from your keyring and its cached mail from your computer. You can also revoke TMC's access at any time at myaccount.google.com/permissions.

Other mail providers

For other providers, TMC uses the login details you enter and keeps them in your keyring. Data is exchanged only between your computer and that provider, under the provider's own privacy policy.

This website

tmc.wieck.dev sets no cookies, uses no analytics and loads no third-party resources. Like any web server, it briefly records technical access data (IP address, time, requested page, browser identification) to operate and secure the service. These logs are not combined with other data and are deleted on a short rotation. The site is delivered through Cloudflare, which processes connection data as a network provider. During Google sign-in your browser may be sent to the “signed in” page here; that visit carries no sign-in data.

Your rights

Because we hold no personal data about TMC users apart from short-lived web server logs, there is usually nothing for us to show, correct or delete. All TMC data on your computer is under your control and can be removed by removing the channel or the TMC data folder. For any question or request, write to marcel@wieck.dev. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection authority.

Changes

If this policy changes, the new version will be published here with a new effective date.
